Papel de confeti de diferentes colores y formas disperso sobre un fondo blanco
This exhibition presented the results of research developed between 2021 and 2023, based on the systematic collection of microplastics on beaches and in urban spaces across Spain. The project stems from an act of observation and gathering of scattered fragments in the everyday environment, approaching them as micro-ruins: material vestiges of the present capable of revealing stories about contemporary systems of production, consumption and waste.

The installation brought together a set of pieces constructed from hundreds of microplastics, previously cleaned, classified and grouped according to different formal typologies. Arranged on textile supports and inspired by the museographic languages of archaeology and geology, the fragments were presented as a catalogue of finds, where each grouping proposed a unit of meaning.

By transferring these remains to the exhibition space, the show invited viewers to observe microplastics not merely as waste, but as material evidence of the Anthropocene and of the profound transformation that human activity has wrought upon ecosystems.
