Not Even a Flower Petal

Not Even a Flower Petal is a series of photographs taken in gardens of residential areas in Bogotá.
In the context of a period of social unrest in Colombia, marked by violence against protesters in city marches, the work proposes an opposing gesture: to observe, approach and register without intervening, without resorting to any type of appropriation or violence towards the flowers.
Through the use of a manually built device —an endless backdrop constructed from a box— the flowers are photographed in situ, without being plucked or displaced. This procedure introduces a relationship of proximity that avoids the appropriation of the object.
The images function as an exercise in attention and respect, where flowers operate as a metaphor for care towards other bodies and forms of life.
